Woman’s Voice: The drug epidemic is very real and all around us. LCMHA wants you to do your part regarding this epidemic. This year’s Do Your Part: Opioid Addiction Summit is on April 18th, 2018 at the Adrian Amory Event Center. Included in this training is Addiction 101, info on medication assisted treatment, prevention strategies, “I Challenge You” presentations from several high schools, and much more. Opioid abuse and addiction touches many lives in our community. Many don’t realize that prescription abuse is one of the leading causes of opioid addiction. People can and do become addicted to prescription drugs. This summit will focus on what the next steps are in prevention and treatment of drug addiction. There will also be a Narcan training available but space is limited. Event flyer can be seen and registration starts on March 1st, 2018 at LCMHA.org.

"My favorite book is The Lives They Left Behind, by Darby Penney. This book is very thought provoking and truly shows how the mental health system failed many. Its puts faces, and stories of patients that were housed in long running State Institution. I was able to see the suitcases and photos from Willard State Hospital, and it was a life changing moment. I suggest everyone read it. I have a spare copy if needed."![]()
